---------------------------------------------------------- This has kept us pretty busy over the last little while, so we've not got a lot If you use Facebook on a regular basis, please visit the page and sign up as Other than that this weeks news reminds you of the two significant airshows Regards, ------------------------------------------------------------------
This book is:
and it contains over 260 high quality contemporary photos of 47 different World War One aircraft and colour schemes. Over 90% of the photos in this book have never been published before, and the book contains 55 full page (A5) photographs, one for each aircraft, plus a few extras. Click here for details and some sample page spreads. All orders received before 24th April will be shipped with a FREE copy of the Classic Fighters 2007 Souvenir Edition book (worth $21) which includes another 350 high quality photos from that earlier event at Omaka Aerodrome.
------------------------------------------------------------------ Well if you're not already booked to head to Wanaka this Easter for the next Warbirds Over Wanaka airshow, then you're probably running out of time. As their blurb says:
This year they've got an original Japanese Zero, the Deere Spitfire, a female wingwalker from Germany, four visiting RAAF F-18 Hornets, and Yurgis Kairys is back. Should be an intersting show, and we're looking forward to getting some awesome photos for you. Watch out for some on our Facebook page (more about that below).
------------------------------------------------------------------
This is billed as "An afternoon of aerial dogfights & tactical displays, showcasing the fighters and reconnaissance aircraft of WW1" This will be the third display day at Hood Aerodrome scheduled by The Vintage Aviator this season, and everyone hopes for a better day weather wise than the last two (flying was restricted during the first day in November, and cancelled outright in January). The show will feature mock dogfights and handling displays with original WW1 aircraft, along with free vintage vehicle rides, food and beverage stalls and a full running commentary during the displays.
------------------------------------------------------------------ Social networking -- it's all the rage, and here at HAFU we figure it's time we gave it a go. While the HAFU website is obviously designed as a location from which you can obtain the various commercial products we release, it's also designed as a mechanism to keep our subscribers up to date with other relevant aviation news, including our freely available photos and videos. To that extent you'll now find us on Facebook as well, at (click the link): Over the past twelve months or so, we've not been in a position to update the main HAFU site as often, or as quickly with temporary news as we'd like to be able to, and it seems that having a Facebook prescence will probably help us do that -- that is, we expect to be able to keep you more informed (e.g. with weather updates at events we're attending), in a more timely manner, via the Facebook page. In addition the Discussions feature of the page gives you the chance to give us some feedback, and even talk amongst yourselves. And don't worry, we're not planning on turning the page into a regular 'tell-all' Blog - we'll leave that to the other writers who feel that it's important that you know who's been flying well, or how many hits they've been having on their other websites! So, if you use Facebook on a regular basis, please visit the page and sign up as a 'Fan' and let us know how many of you want to receive periodic news updates via that mechanism as well. At this stage there's not much on the page in terms of photo or video, but if there's a demand (i.e. if you sign up and let us know you're there), then we'll make a real effort to start putting material there -- especially as it's a bit easier to do it there, rather than here!
------------------------------------------------------------------ The team at Hood Aerodrome in Masterton are well advanced with plans for next years Wings Over Wairarapa 2011 airshow (21st- 23rd January 2011), and it looks like it'll be a cracker of a show which will include one or two new aircraft not seen before (or at least not for a large number of years)! The airshow website has had a major revamp and update, so check it out and don't forget to sign up for the periodic email newsletters to keep abreast with news about the forthcoming show. ------------------------------------------------------------------ This Weeks Other Video - Spitfire & Me.109 As we've been busy preparing the new book over the last couple of months, we've not had a great deal of spare time to deal with our archive of video footage so we've not got anything new to show just yet. However we have recently seen some great footage on YouTube, and with that in mind what we're hoping to do periodically is point you in the direction of some other good 'Aviation Film' that's out here on the internet. For a start here's some magic footage of an Me.109 and Spitfire IX flying at low level: ------------------------------------------------------------------- YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/HAFUVideo Movie Downloads: http://www.aviationfilm.com/shop/dlmovies/index.shtml Collectors Cards: http://www.aviationfilm.com/shop/cards/index.shtml Board & Miniatures Games: http://www.aviationfilm.com/shop/games/index.shtml -------------------------------------------------------------------
