Getting Your Own Virtual Reality |
This web site is designed as a showcase of the possible uses of the QuickTime VR technology. The virtualNZ team can use this technology to produce 360° virtual reality scenes of your business, premises or commercial activity, so that you can make use of this exciting visual medium on the internet (or CD-ROM) today!
Standard Packages We offer three standard VR 'packages' (described below). At $199, $299, and $499 (+GST), these packages offer a simple choice of services for different sized businesses. If none of these offerings suit you or your business, we are more than happy to discuss any customised imaging requirements with you.
Small Business Package NZ $199 + GST This package is designed for smaller businesses who would like a small number of VR images to add to an existing web site. Alternatively (if you don't currently have a web site) you may want to make some images available on the internet so that potential clients can view them. This package is designed for mid-sized businesses who want to make good use of the VR technology, by providing comprehensive images of their business activity and/or premises. This package will suit businesses who wish to add a new 'VR' section to an existing web site, or who wish to distribute the images (to business colleagues or clients) on CD-ROM. Virtual Company Package $499 + GST This package is designed for larger companies or organisations who want to embrace the new VR technology by providing clients and customers with a comprehensive virtual tour. This package will suit businesses who wish to add a new, comprehensive 'VR' section to an existing web site, or who wish to distribute the images (to business colleagues or clients) on CD-ROM. If you are located further than 30km from Blenheim (where virtualNZ is based), there may be an additional charge made for travel expenses incurred. We will discuss this at the time you order your VR package.
Once the photographs have been taken and processed, we will provide you with a CD-ROM that contains:
vitualNZ will provide you with a royalty-free, unrestricted, perpetual licence to use and distribute your QTVR images as you wish, provided you do not charge for them. We will retain original copyright of the images, and may use them in other virtual reality CD-ROM products or web sites at our discretion.
The whole point of most web sites is to make your (potential) clients and customers purchase and buy your products, and to try and make them remember who you are so that next time they will return to your site. Adding some immersive QTVR images to your web site is one low-cost and effective way to get your clients to stay longer at your site, and to think of you next time.
Each QTVR image on this web site (and the low-res versions we will provide you with), are approximately 150-250k in size. This compares with standard 2D photographic images which are usually in the range 20-60k. This means that when connecting to the internet with a modem, you will notice that the images take a little longer to be fully displayed and useable.
In general the answer to this queston is 'no'. We are not in the business of developing web sites for our clients, however we can put you in touch with a number of web developers who will happily help you create your web site, and make use of your QTVR images.
We don't have a web site, where can we put our panoramas? If you don't currently have a web site, but simply want to make the images available on the internet for your clients to view, then we can in some cases provide a 'hosting' service for your images. Please contact us to discuss the additional costs involved in this service.
Can you add other material to the CD-ROMs? Yes. We can add additional text information, still photographs, red-green 3D photographs (anaglyphs) and video clips to the master distribution CD-ROMs if you wish. This will be an additional cost, so please discuss this with us in detail first.
QuickTime VR (Virtual Reality) or (QTVR) is Apple Computer's award-winning, photorealistic, cross-platform, virtual reality technology that makes it possible to explore places as if you are really there. QuickTime panoramic movies are 360 degree views of scenes - such as a landscape or building - that allow you to look up, down, turn around, zoom in to see the detail, and zoom out for a broader view. As you change the view of a scene the correct perspective is maintained, giving the ability to look around just like in real life.
Apple's QuickTime 5 software has been downloaded over 100 million times by both Windows and Macintosh customers in its first year. Every day, more than 300,000 people download QuickTime to view news, entertainment, movie trailers and virtual reality content on the Internet. This huge user base is equipped to view your coolest QuickTime content. For more information, see the QuickTime site. What is the 'Virtual Marlborough' CD? We have begun production of a CD-ROM product, showcasing and highlighting Marlborough as a tourist destination. This will include a large number of QTVR images, and possibly small movie clips and still phtographs as well. The CD-ROM will be sold for a small charge to tourists already in the province (who wish to take a momento home), or to companies who wish to provide the information to potential customers.
