The road from Picton to Blenheim is 27.4 km in length along the South Island's State Highway 1, and in normal conditions will take approximately 22 minutes to drive. Picton is often referred to as the 'Gateway To The South Island' as it is the southern terminus for the Interislander Ferry route, and people traveling to the South Island by ferry will invariably start their southern journey at Picton. | |||||||||
